I had the opportunity to talk to the director and the stars of Me and Earl and the Dying Girl, a charming, funny, and tragic story about a teenager diagnosed with Leukemia. This Sundance-award winner is now in wide release amid lofty praise and critical acclaim.
Thomas Mann, Olivia Cooke, and RJ Cyler star as the three titular teens, while Alfonso Gomez-Rejon directed a script written by Jesse Andrews. I talked to the actors about filming such emotional scenes and the ways in which they prepared, while Gomez-Rejon offered intimate answers about making a film inspired by his father’s passing.
Check out my interview with Mann, Cooke, and Cyler at We Got This Covered, while my conversation with Gomez-Rejon can be seen below.
