Well, we are nearing the end. The summer movie season has come and is just about gone, and the usual amount of anticipation and excitement has once again outweighed the payoff. That is, except for Boyhood, Richard Linklater’s epic indie masterpiece. Nothing else has come close to comparing this summer, or this year for that matter, as the ambitious, 12-year project was realized in ways it could have never imagined.
There were other things too, and I suppose there have to be. It’s nice to have some distractions, but Boyhood is something rare and special, and will live long past this summer.
