A band whose songs now feature in my music catalog, Magneta Lane first caught my ear on the fabulous CBC-Radio 3. With their music on rotation, I listened to them more intently, quickly devouring some of their instantly infectious songs. It was only until recently that I learned about the women who made up the band, and all that they went through growing up and playing music in Toronto. The same age as me, they are passionate and determined, yet self-effacing and very easy going. Talented and mature, too, and those traits certainly come through in their latest release, and EP over a year in the making, marking a triumphant return after a brief hiatus.
I had the opportunity to chat with Lexi Valentine, the lead singer, songwriter, and older sister of the trio. We chatted on end about what she has been through the last 10 years performing and writing, about a love of horror movies, and what’s next with the band.
Magneta Lane impressed at their EP Release party last week for Witchrock, and here is hoping more music and more shows will follow very soon.
Check them out!
