I am endlessly fascinated with talented, impressive musical front-women, and recently I was fortunate to witness one possessive of a most celestial and compelling voice in Alejandra Deheza of School of Seven Bells. With her sister gone from the band, Deheza alongside Benjamin Curtis took to the stage in Toronto for what was a very impressive show.
The biggest surprise (surprise may not be the right word) of the evening was the way their shoegaze/electropop/haunting-rock stylings translated with more powerful and pace on stage. While completely in command, the songs were simply more engrossing, escalated in size and scope as if playing in a giant arena. Deheza and company fully sate the room with voice and sound, making for a captivating performance
