By luck or fate, I was introduced to the music of Gabrielle Papillon last fall, and her endearing, infectious songs lingered with me long after I saw her perform live. I was thrilled to see she would be returning for Canadian Music Week, and made sure not to miss out. Not only was I fortunate enough to see her play twice, including a great set with The Mighty Oak. I also had a chance to talk with her at length about music, art, history, and of course, Smash.
What resulted, among other things, is a piece I’ve written which I hope conveys the talent, charm, and loveliness on display while she perform, and how compelling and at times haunting her music can be.

And come see Gabrielle play in Toronto on May 8th at The Piston.
