I was very fortunate enough to attend the Toronto Premiere of The Woman in Black, a British horror film starring Britain’s boy wonder, Daniel Radcliffe. The young star was in attendance, and did he best to simultaneously give thanks to the success Harry Potter has given him, while maintaining focus trying for a successful future without wizardry. It would seem his first attempt is a rather good one; The Woman in Black is a creepy, dark, slow-build that delivers scares offers more than a few things to talk about afterwards. A few clever horror techniques, some incredibly disgusting mud, and an incredibly loud and extremely terrifying woman make up this solid addition to the horror genre.
