A big factor in enjoying movies tends to be expectations. Whether they are too high or too low can drastically change your appreciation or lack thereof, and knowing just a little bit about what you are getting into can go a long way to making things just a bit more comforting.
A PG movie about whales starring two too-cute actors in John Krasinski and Drew Barrymore, alongside the incomparable Ted Danson bring with it a lot of hope that this isn’t just a waste of time. Much to my elation, Big Miracle delivers laughs, heart, and some very winning performances. It isn’t the deepest of movies, but in it’s earnestness and simplicity comes a great deal of pleasure.
