Movie Review: The Iron Lady

With The Iron Lady, the new biopic from Phyllida Lloyd, we have a very strange case of a movie that is as much about one character as it is about the actress portraying her. The film itself seems lacking at times, glossing over the political and military influence of Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, but Meryl Streep as the first female British leader, is nothing sort of extraordinary. She gives an incredibly compelling performance, but the film says more about what a great actress Ms. Streep is, as opposed to what influence, legacy, and statutre Ms. Thatcher has.
